2021 : Premier Don - 1st artwork donation
UNE EXPÉRIENCE DE DON, DE CONCEPTION ET DE MATÉRIAUX
En 2021, le maire de Bluffy m'a demandé de participer à une petite initiative où les habitants du village fabriquaient chacun une sculpture de poulet dans le cadre de la fête du village. Le résultat, après 2 mois d'essais et d'erreurs, a été cette sculpture de 2 m de haut en bois, cuivre et émail. Peut-être un peu plus substantiel que prévu.
Depuis, la sculpture est restée exposée au centre du village. J'ai beaucoup appris de cette initiative. La sculpture génère des retours positifs continus et, je pense, a contribué matériellement au sentiment de cohésion communautaire et de fierté dans notre village.
D'un point de vue artistique, cela m'a montré l'intérêt d'apporter des couleurs fortes à un décor extérieur : l'émail se démarque vraiment. Les matériaux n'ont pas été sélectionnés à l'origine pour leur longévité et c'est pourquoi, en 2026, le bois montre des signes d'usure et l'une des couleurs de l'émail des bijoux s'estompe. J'ai hâte de concevoir et de construire une version 2 plus permanente, dans le cadre du projet Arte Altruisme.
An experiment in giving, design and materials
In 2021 the mayor of Bluffy asked me to join in a small initiative where the village residents each fabricated a chicken sculpture as part of the village fete. The result , after 2 months of trial and error, was this 2m high sculpture of wood, copper and enamel sculpture. Perhaps a bit more substantial than was planned..
Since then the sculpture has stayed on display in the centre of the village. I learned a lot from this initiative. The sculpture generates ongoing positive feedback and has I feel materially contributed to the sense of communal cohesion and pride in our village.
In an artistic sense it showed me the value of bringing strong colour to an outdoor setting - the enamel really stands out. The materials were not originally selected for longevity and so now in 2026 the wood is showing signs of wear and one of the jewellery enamel colours is fading. I look forward to designing and building a more permanent Version 2, as part of the Arte Altruisme Project.
